Following further design and development work, we have been able to considerably reduce the sizes of both the Rx and Tx boards, by having these part-manufactured for us, with surface mounted components. These are now available to order.

The long-awaited Beacon Board Kit is now available for sale. This board runs independently from the wireless kit, so it can be used on any vehicle, regardless of if you have a wireless kit installed, or not. This will drive a maximum of 8 leds, 2 per channel.

We are awaiting quotes back from various manufacturers for the Motorised Support Legs Kit, to have these part-manufactured for us. We are hoping to have these available for sale in December.

Development for other new products is ongoing.

We have in stock our new Tx boards, which are smaller than the original ones, about the size of a credit card and have been part-manufactured for us, with surface mounted components.

We are still working on a our wireless unit for the MFU-01, we have made some changes to the original prototype too. Also we are testing a add-on module, which will add directional blinking marker lighting effect to the trailer (Thanks to Jerry @ www.mwmodeltrucking.com for the idea).

We are trying to make all our units “Plug and Play” so there should be no need for the use of a soldering iron and no burnt fingers.

We have been getting e-mails regarding the time-scale, for when our units will be on sale, the honest answer is that due to family and work commitments and we are finding it hard to keep the development moving forward at the pace we would like. We are hoping to have more news with dates soon.

We now have 2 testers (Thanks to Ken and Jerry) using our prototype units and working with us to come to a final unit and iron out any bugs.

UPDATE – 21/06/09

Here is a new video from Ken, we sent him out some new parts for the wireless unit. He was having some trouble with the wireless comms between the truck and the trailer. Ken’s rig is awesome!!!!! – I think it could do with a few more LEDs – lol

Welcome to our website.

This project has been developed out of our personal frustration, having built a fantastic Tamiya Truck and trailer from scratch, being able to hook up by remote control but then having to manually connect up the lights, it loses the magic!!!

Talking to other people, it seemed that they all had the same thoughts, so I set about thinking/finding a way to resolve the problem, hence SS-tronix was born!!!

The basic idea is that our unit connects to the multi-function unit, then converts a signal into infra-red and transmits to the trailer. The infra-red receiver on the trailer receives the signal and operates the trailer lights.
